Understanding TRT

What testosterone replacement therapy does—and doesn't.

Testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) is the supplementation of testosterone in men with clinically low levels (hypogonadism). The goal is to restore hormone levels to normal range and improve the symptoms that come with deficiency: fatigue, mood changes, sexual performance concerns, decreased muscle strength.

TRT works. Properly dosed and monitored, it does what it is supposed to do. It also requires ongoing attention. Blood pressure, cholesterol, hematocrit, and PSA must be tracked. The dose may need adjustment. That monitoring is not optional—it is the non-negotiable part of the process.

The honest part that most clinics won't say out loud: TRT does suppress your body's own testosterone production while you are on it. For a man planning children in the near term, there is a different option. For a man committed to staying on therapy, this is not a problem.

Is TRT Right for You

Symptoms that prompt the conversation.

Common symptoms:

  • • Persistent low energy or fatigue
  • • Reduced motivation or mood changes
  • • Decreased muscle strength or endurance
  • • Sexual performance concerns or reduced desire
  • • Difficulty concentrating or brain fog
  • • Poor sleep quality or difficulty recovering from exercise

The first step:

Blood work. We measure total and free testosterone, plus LH and FSH to understand where the signal is breaking down. No treatment happens before you know what you are looking at.

Many men who think they need TRT actually don't—and we tell them that. Sleep, stress, and weight often move the needle on their own.

Pricing & Process

What to expect and what it costs.

How much does TRT cost?

Programs run from about $100 to $300 a month, depending on what is included. The real question is not the sticker price—it is what you get for it.

Is medication included in the monthly fee?
Are follow-up lab draws included?
Who reads the results and adjusts your dose?

At SlimFit: Initial evaluation and comprehensive labs, physician visit to review results, and membership starting at [TK: Bronze tier pricing] per month with medication and quarterly labs included.

Is TRT legal in Florida?

Yes, when prescribed by a licensed physician for a lab-confirmed clinical indication. Testosterone is a controlled substance, which is exactly why it requires a real evaluation and ongoing monitoring rather than an online form.

Are TRT clinics covered by insurance?

Most TRT programs, ours included, operate outside insurance. Some of the diagnostic bloodwork may be billable through your plan, and we'll tell you specifically what applies to you before anything is drawn.

Are men's health clinics worth it?

The ones that are worth it order comprehensive bloodwork before they recommend anything, tell you when your labs are normal, and recheck you on a schedule. The ones that aren't have decided what to sell you before you walk in. You can tell which is which by asking what happens if your numbers come back fine.
